How to use Shrinky dink sheets

Go into your printer properties and select “Matte Photo Paper” or “Transparency Film”, then print out your image. Then press a sheet of paper or cardboard on top of the Shrinky Dinks and lightly press flat (I used a small book to weigh it down). I lowered the temperature to 300 degrees Fahrenheit (148 degrees Celsius) in the following batches (no smoke…YAY!). When the timer rang, I put in the tray with the Shrinky Dinks and set the timer to 3 minutes (the baking time indicated in the instructions were 1-3 minutes).

What Can I use to Color my Shrink Art? Can I use Paint?

They are perfectly sized for a sheet of printable shrinky dink paper. Perhaps it was a batch or perhaps the new production of printable shrinky dink paper just isn’t what it used to be. With that came a bad batch of printable shrinky dink paper. Since shrinky dink paper tends to make colors appear darker and more vibrant after shrinking, adjusting your image’s colors beforehand is useful. Therefore, when loading shrinky dink paper into the printer, please remember to print on the matte side.

Types of Printable Shrinky Dink Paper

It’s a fun choice for back-to-school workshops as it is so easy to install and comes in fun colors. The backpack has a natural point on the design to add a jumpring and keychain but the others needed holes punched. You can then flatten it further with a silicone turner or whatever you have handy (I used my metal water bottle.) The plastic will twist and turn all different ways but once you’ve properly melted it all, it should lay mostly flat. I wanted to show this to you using an affordable but high quality paint marker, so I used Ohuhu’s dual tipped acrylic markers for this. But you can, of course, take the “I’m just doing it” approach and ignore these instructions – do it the way you always have!

You can also use colored pencils if that is easier. White or semi-transparent shrink paper produces vibrant colors and sharp prints.
